No Perfect People Allowed... |

|
I remind the core of our New Hope family often that we are all fellow strugglers in life....
No perfect people are allowed! That is a truly liberating reality! When this is understood and practiced, authenticity thrives and hypocrisy starves.
- There is no need to pretend that you have it all together.
- There is no need to pretend you are better than someone else.
- There is no need to pretend that we can handle life alone!
At New Hope, we are working hard to foster authentic relationships in a safe environment. It is my conviction, that much that has turned people away from the church is not that people who call themselves Christians mess-up, fall-down or sin. What turns people away is the false image that has been perpetrated that makes "strugglers" deny their struggles and instead ACT like they have it all together and never mess-up. So, rather than being authentic, good people are pressed into a mold that makes them less than honest.
My desire is that we would strive to be good people, living life to the fullest and for the Glory of God. However, when we make mistakes or fall down, I want to be able to ask others to pray for me, support me, etc. Through this love and trust I have the faith I need to get back up and walk again. You see, I believe that God is not waiting to hit us on the head when we fall down. Rather, like a loving parent, he watches with sincere hope that we will make right decisions and triumph in the the race called life. However, when we stumble or fall, I believe that God runs to our side at that moment to encourage us and say, "Get up, Get up...I still love you...You can do it...I will help you...Let's try it again!"
