Does the current state of our culture and or nation cause
you concern? Take a minute to read the perspective I stumbled across
this morning.
I wanted to share with you a unique experience in my journey
and perhaps a unique perspective provided to me this morning. I started my day off with the same stress over the economy and new
unemployment numbers and analyst predictions for even worse to come for years
ahead. Then, through an IM with a friend, the Lord led me to a reading of 2 Timothy 1:7-10 in the
NKJV.
“7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power
and of love and of a sound mind. 8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the
testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the
sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, 9 who has saved us
and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to
His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time
began, 10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus
Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through
the gospel…
I came to an unexpected and unique conclusion or
interpretation of events I have been seeing as true negatives from a
contemporary culture and national history perspective. I found myself
praying:
Praise God that we are no longer a
"Christian nation"…Praise God that it is no longer popular,
comfortable or convenient to call yourself "A Christian"….to casually
adopt the expected label of “Christianity”… Praise God that we find ourselves
in a period of tremendous blessing because we're approaching a time when Christ
without suffering may be impossible.
"Therefore do not be ashamed
of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the
sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God,"
Praise God that we as the body of
the resurrected and living Lord Jesus Christ can no longer just sit by and do nothing….Praise God that He is
constantly bringing new light into the circumstances we are facing which make
these things we tend to fear or dread now seem appropriate and perfect in
timing and purpose.
To live is Christ…Christ in me…His
resurrection life is the hope of the world…even now…especially now.
